The start of my creative writing…

Hello,

My name is Nikita and I’ve spent the last week getting back into creative writing. I started watching the show ‘Younger’ on Netflix that follows the life a 42 year old woman who pretends to be 26 to get a job in editing. Initially I just liked the plot line, it was the first new show I’d had an interest in for a while, but then I slowly started to remember my passion for writing. From the age of 10 I used to write creative stories for fun and I made a few original pieces over a 3-4 year period. I never sought out competitions because tbh I didn’t really know about them! Eventually personal struggles with depression and mental illness meant that I forgot about a lot of my hobbies. This last year has been about remembering who I am and watching this show made me think… why not start again? I’m only 22 and my whole life is ahead of me, so I opened word and I started typing. In 4 days I’d written a 30k word novella (my heart soul and baby) called ‘Forever Fated’. This is a book that has emotional themes of betrayal, authoritarian control, moral complexities surrounding forgiveness and who is really ‘good’ in the world. I loved writing this and I have submitted it to a few publishing agencies so I can’t share it yet, but I’m excited to share some of my smaller pieces in the meantime. Over the last 24 hours, I crafted ‘Space Seed’ for a debut writer short story competition. It had to be less than 10k words about fantasy or sci-fi (my specialities). This piece is a lot more of my fire compared to the softness of Forever Fated. Please follow along for the journey as I enter more competitions and fight to get my first piece in the bookshops!

I’m also a lover of solo-travelling so my blog will follow along on some of those memories and future journeys. On the 4th of July this year I set off on a 1.5 week 3 country trip across Europe and it WILL be written about! All the best moments will be coming on here and I might add the odd story from the past too.

Thanks again,

NikitaR
